When I was working in architecture there was a lot we had to do with fire walls and area separations, so I am no stranger to doors in odd places and hold opens and all that sort of thing. I have never seen a door in an open hallway though:

Was this an expansion from an old fire exit and they added new wing but never got rid of the door because now the framing is structural?
You would hope that was the case, but no. All brand new construction, only four years old.
Super weird. I love the open air stuff though - the ASU campus was full of those buildings!
