This is one of the cutest things I have ever seen.
How can you not squeal when watching this?

This is me and I am not a bird person, but whoa. Cuteness.

Interesting fact for the day:
A roasting avocado pit smells exactly - EXACTLY - like moth balls.
And speaking of avocados, check out these puppies:
Comes from one of our neighbors, with a really old tree, that makes lots of really large avocados. Like grapefruit sized.

This is me and don't say you didn't learn anything today.

Bright Spot

There are many, many, maaaany challenges with being the Relief Society President.
Oh so many challenges.
But sometimes there's a nice perk.
This time, after getting up before the crack of dawn to fetch two from the flower market downtown, trucking them up to the building and making sure they had food and water for the day, then enduring miles of meetings the next day for Ward Conference, I got to take one of them home to keep:
So pretty:
Starburst lilies are my favorite flower:

This is me with a lovely table piece for a while.

Varmint #2

Caught me a second possum this evening:
Turns out they're like ants; there's never just one.
After being rebellious and actually capturing the first critter, then being humane and dropping it off to begin a new possum life somewhere else, I was quite proud of myself and amazed at the ease with which it had been accomplished.
This lasted about 24 hours.
Until I saw another possum waddle through the yard and knew my work was not yet done. Some possums are not as gullible as others and do not come for mere cat food.
A piece of bread with peanut butter, however, was all it took to get this guy. With zero waste or crumbs left over.
S/he also took a little trip to a very nice park and can live happily eating from trash cans.
I am wiser than before though and will not celebrate completely until I know we got them all.

This is me and I really should start a new series here.

I Love The Internet

Sure, it has issues what with the nekkid peoples and false information and all that, but there are days when I do love the Internet.
Where else to pictures like these come from?:
I am a fan of people words coming from animals:
 So cute:

This is me and I totally laughed out loud at this one. Now put your hands up:

New Nephew

(It's the complete opposite side of the family but I think BHB will appreciate the nickname of my newest nephew.)
Yesterday morning, Rocketgirl was once again marvelous and brought an adorable little boy into the world. Meet Condorman:
Ridiculously adorable, just like all her other children and how could they not be with a mother like this:
Mother and baby are doing fine. According to his mother "the Condor is seriously awesome." Congratulations!

This is me, Aunt Jane again! Woot!

Caught Me A Possum

It's a Jungle miracle!
We finally caught the possum that has been eating the cat food:
Only to find out that no animal control organization will come and remove it because, and I quote, "we moved into their space so we have to learn to coexist with them." She was quite emphatic that it was illegal for me to trap and relocate the stupid thing.
Bring it.
I'm not about to let this go on if I have the means to remove it. This is not the first time I've had to deal with wildlife in my backyard.
I documented the raccoon we used to have, here. Apparently cat food wasn't enough and he moved off to find better grub, leaving a hole in the ecosystem that is the crawl space under my house.
Enter the possums, and there are enough of them in the neighborhood that one enterprising female had babies this last year. The dog next door caught one baby and I have been infuriating the cats by not feeding them out of doors in the hopes that the possums would move on.
Apparently they are a very tenacious species.
Six months with none of my food and they are still giving me issues. So a friend loaned me a trap, I baited it and not 20 minutes later I had of my cats:
Stupid Bear.
Good thing he learned fast, because 20 minutes after letting him out, I had a possum:
After all the nonsense with the animal control people, Tarzan took it three miles down the road and dropped it in a park.

This is me managing my own wildlife.

Record High

It's been so warm lately - unusually warm - so warm, the chocolate on my Girl Scout Cookies is melting.
Even while still in the house.
I love the Jungle - especially this time of year - but there are moments when it seems overly enthusiastic and this might be one of those times.

This is me with sticky chocolate on my Thin Mints.

Lamb vs. Lion Situation

Do people still talk about March coming in/going out like a lamb/lion?
I remember it being very common when I was growing up but not as much any more.
If it's a fair simile to use I want to proclaim March in The Jungle came in like a lamb this year. It was soft and sweet. The sun was out, the breeze was blowing, it was clear and warm and I had the top down the whole way to work.
Didn't do my hair any favors but it was best drive of my life.

This is me hoping it doesn't end.
