This might not mean much to those of you who aren't in the picture. (left to right) Me, Qwan Smi, Smurfy and Fleighund met at the School of Architecture orientation the summer before freshman year at the University of Southern California. Though we are all quite different we have stayed the best of friends ever since. After graduation Fleighund and I moved to The Jungle, but the other two moved far away (some of us several times, right Qwan?) and it has been seven years (seven!) since all four of us were in the same place at the same time. The last time was graduation, May 2000. Three of us graduated in architecture and two of us still work in the crazy business. The other two got smart and got out. :)
Saturday we went out for dinner and just hung out, chatting about any and everything. I was amused by how we had all changed, becoming project managers, getting licenses and having staff to work for us, and yet the dynamic of the group is still the same. It's hard to summarize but basically Fleighund makes a comment, Smurfy responds, Qwan cracks a joke and I bust up laughing. The jokes and subjects are more mature, but otherwise... Sunday afternoon we got some lunch downtown and then said good bye. Wish it had been longer. It was a crappy reason we were reunited (Smurfy's father passed away) but it was excellent to see the boys. I hope it's not seven years until we get to all hang out again.
