I Almost Forgot

It's been a while since I posted this picture of Tarzan and Cheetah and asked for your captions:
There were four submissions:
  1. "Dad, hurry up and get to the good part!"
  2. "Ugh, Mom does the voices better."
  3. "He's reading 'Love You Forever' again? I will not cry this time. I will NOT cry."
  4. "Are we there yet?"
They all made us laugh and though #2 is close runner up, Tarzan chose #3 as the funniest of them all.
Congratulations Cathie!!!
(Send me an email with your preferred flavor of cookies and mailing address and I will get them in the mix and on their way.)

This is me, with a winner.

Giggle Giggle Snort

I know this is not what you were hoping I'd post but it made me laugh out loud like I haven't in a while, generally because the baby is sleeping and I am hoping it lasts for more than 40 minutes:

This is me and sometimes Facebook is worth the (free) membership.

You've Been Chopped

Sorry Tarzan:

This is me and he looks so much older suddenly.

Associations

I'm not saying it's Cheeta's fault that USC lost to UCLA today...
I just think that wearing a butter yellow sleeper while wrapped in a baby blue blanket didn't do much for his loyalties.

This is me and we've got a tradition to continue.

Anyone For A Conga Line?

Today marks the start of my 26th week of pregnancy.
According to the 'baby books' - with a lot of NICU help - Cheeta could survive if he were born now.
Of course we are hoping he makes it another few weeks and comes out swinging. (Genetics being what they are, I have no doubt he'll bake for at least 12 more weeks.)
The swinging thing he has down cold if the movements in my belly mean anything.
Last week at my doctor's appointment she asked if I could feel him moving and boy can I. At first, it was like 'they' say and I couldn't tell if it was gas, my stomach rumbling or baby.
There is no doubting it now.
When he lets go it doesn't hurt - I wonder if that comes later when he weighs 7 pounds instead of the current 2? - but it's definite.
Sometimes it's like the Loch Ness Monster with the bluuurrp-type rippling movement across the front, other times it's minimal and I wonder if he's facing the other way or not as interested.
I hadn't really noticed until the doctor mentioned it but my uterus is tilted to the right - which is why only one ankle swells up when I'm working at my desk - and most of the kicking does come on in the middle or on the right side.
Sometimes it's a fluttering feeling, like he's poking obliquely, not directly into my side.
Sometimes I pretend it's his head I am feeling. It might be. I can't tell yet.
And I don't know if Cheeta can tell but he sure does stop kicking right as Tarzan puts his hand on me so he's never felt the really big kicks or the rippling motion that's so weird.
I wish Tarzan was home right now because I swear he's doing the samba in there today.

This is me and Cheeta's alive and doing well.

Old & New Shoes

This week was the week that we had scheduled the installation of our new floors.
(We figured 12 years was long enough with carpet we hadn't really wanted in the first place - long story, which will come later - and we figured with the upheaval of all else in our life, let's do a home improvement project too.)
This post is not about that though.
As I mentioned earlier, in anticipation of the project, Tarzan and I have been trying to sort through our junk possessions and see what we truly need/want and what we can get rid of. It can be a challenging task at times.
Especially when one packs as well as I do and am constantly opening a drawer/door/closet/etc. to find MORE STUFF to sort through.
While cleaning out the bedroom I came across a few boxes of, what is affectionately known in my family, "sentimental jazz." Playbills, ticket stubs, programs, art, kitchy presents, dried flowers, the usual.
On the first layer of one box was a pair of baby shoes.
A pair of baby shoes I had been given by the guy who sold me the shoes I wore to my wedding because "first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby."
Over the years I have been tempted to throw them out or give them away SO. Many. Times. Then I packed them in a box, they ended up under the bed and haven't been seen in so long, I forgot to even consider giving them to my sisters when they were having babies.
I already used up my vindication speech on the children's books I saved despite Tarzan telling me we weren't having kids, so why should we take up the space?
This was just hilarious:

This is me and he'll have shoes at least.

Makes Sense

Best logic I have heard in a while:
  1. Chocolate comes from cocoa, which is a tree
  2. That makes it a plant
  3. Chocolate is salad.
This is me liking where his mind is at.

Not For Young Readers

Warning: Please be advised, the following contains material with adult themes. You probably shouldn't let the children read it.

Are we alone now?
...
Sure?
...
Okay good.
...
So, one of my jobs; being a personal assistant. And that means I do a lot of random things; file bills, laminate photos, highlight instructions, walk the dog, pull weeds, fetch the mail, chop vegetables for dinner, etc.
But.
Perhaps the weirdest/oddest/strangest/most bizarre thing I have ever had to do was order a vibrator for a 79 year old woman.
Yes, yes I did.
If it helps at all, I don't think she knows what it is that she asked for. In the catalog it was labeled as "intimate massager." It was circled on a page with other, more innocuous massagers.
What does not help is that when it arrived she instructed me to figure out how to charge it and how to turn it on.
And even after all that, I still don't think she knows what it is she asked for.
But I do and I will never be able to get that out of my mind.

This is me and the things that I do at work...

Making Me Smile On A Wednesday

I'm not sure if it's a paradigm shift or just the latest trend but there have been a lot of articles about strange happenings and funny pictures on Facebook lately.
My favorite today was the 50 Funniest Mormon Memes post.
Some of the quotes under the pictures are sad because they are true, some are weird, some are funny and some are hilarious. Of those fifty, these two were my favorites:

This is me and it's nice to start a day with a good laugh.

Rock Of Ages

Yes. Yes, it was released last year (2012) and this year - 2013 - is almost over and I only just saw Rock of Ages.
But it did not disappoint.
Now, lest you think otherwise, there is no deep plot line - no plot at all actually; chick falls off the bus into the arms of the guy who will solve all her problems - but who went to this film for the plot?
Exactly.
*I* went for the fabulous soundtrack - and it really was fantastic. Songs from Journey, Def Leppard, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Poison...it was an 80's dream. And the stars sang their own songs and did a decent job. I was pleasantly surprised with Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin. (Some of the others, Catherine, had proven themselves before and others were there just because they could sing.)
I thought the stars who had lived through the 80's were more personable in the film than those who weren't born for the decade the first time through. The younger ones played it straight and didn't let any of the humor and fun seep in. I got the distinct impression Russell Brand lives like his character ALL the time; he was so comfortable and easy in the role.
So no deep meaning, but a lot of really great songs and some really cool people rocking out.

This is me and now I want to rock!

Top Of The FB Page Today

There are days when FB says just what I need it to say to make me laugh. I especially like the darker of the two blue ones:

This is me and that was amusing.

So True

This is so my cat:

He sits there with such a frustrated look on his face. Like he could totally do a better job running this planet than these foolish humans...
Except for that one thing.

This is me and I could be a minion!

I Love The Internet

Sure, it has issues what with the nekkid peoples and false information and all that, but there are days when I do love the Internet.
Where else to pictures like these come from?:
I am a fan of people words coming from animals:
 So cute:

This is me and I totally laughed out loud at this one. Now put your hands up:

Can I Get An Amen?

The following may be slightly offensive to some peoples, but the point is extremely valid:
Many thanks to whoever comes up with these things. I wish I was that witty.

This is me and you can only blame spell-check so much.

Sad But True

I caught this on FB the other day:
And I laughed so hard. It's true, so true. It's reasons like this that I am glad I don't live in Th Frozen North anymore. 75F in November anyone?

This is me and I've lived it, so I know.

Poor Thing

I almost felt sorry for the poor little telemarketer that called Aunt Richie's house today.
Of course, I almost laughed at him too, so I guess it's fair.
The phone rang and she answered - which is rare enough - then comes back to the office and says the phone call doesn't sound right, that it's 'suspicious."
Apparently the guy on the phone needed someone to be in front of the computer while talking to him because we "might have a virus."
Already I knew it was a phishing scam but I picked up the phone anyway and asked what he needed.
He directed me to look at the bottom right corner of my screen for the Windows button.
I had to interrupt at this point and tell him we didn't have Windows, but were running Mac OSX 10.6 instead.
I could hear his disappointment as he answered, "Oh? Oh. Oh, well, I guess your computer is fine then. You...probably don't have a virus."
I could well believe he cried when he hung up the phone he was so deflated.

This is me, and I almost asked if he had a protocol script for Mac OS. But I didn't.

Every Time

I know, not everyone loves cats as I do, but the pictures that have become de riguer lately, sometimes known as LOLZCats, makes me laugh and I dare you to not crack a smile at this one:

This is me. I have lived it and I still think it's funny.

Found On The Table

It struck me as highly amusing that one of the items donated to the LDS church sponsored swap meet this evening was a Budweiser labeled bottle opener...

This is me and that's how we roll?
